Hey! So many times I have started to write a blog post over the last year. So many abandoned musings…
Writing a blog post is an endeavor that takes numerous hours, days, and so much energy. Life and time and stress and the need/desire to cram enormous thoughts into small packages have overwhelmed me. You know what I mean. It’s a common story.
In this challenging moment in history we’re experiencing together (but in our own ways), time, energy, and will are at a premium for us all. While I want to reach out to my readers, connecting with my beloved ones, getting my copious emails answered, washing my groceries, and keeping those I love and myself well (in every sense of that word) supersede.
But I can and do tweet— a short form of outreach and connection that takes a thoughtful 2 to 10 minutes. So, that’s how I will move forward with this blog. More posts. Shorter. Easier for me to write and for you to read.
Also, while we’re here:
Black Lives Matter. (Yeah, yeah, ALL lives matter, of course! But turn the hose on the house that’s burning, not the safe one next door. All houses matter, but the one on raging fire needs attention right now. Be a good neighbor.)
Pride, baby! Homophobia is so 1950s. You are not stuck in the past, are you? Your life will be immeasurably enhanced by close friendships with sexuality-gender-others.
Gramps are legends, and you’ll be one day—if you’re lucky. Look after your olds. They are not collateral damage in a pandemic. They are our treasure.
Mask up. Show you’re a true patriot of whatever country you live in. Better: be a patriot to humanity.
Act on Climate Change. If you don’t, the rest is moot. If you do, you’ll help all of the above.
Ok, I guess this is more than a 280-character tweet. But it got the post written.
Be kind. Be fab. And experience nature when you can. Stay well.
